Non-Appearance Insurance
What is Non-Appearance Insurance?
Non-appearance insurance covers an event organiser’s financial loss when a named performer, speaker or key person cannot appear because of illness, injury, travel disruption or another covered cause outside their control.
It is usually arranged for headline acts, international performers and keynote speakers, where the event cannot run or loses much of its value without them. See our non-appearance insurance guide for how it is placed.
What Insurers Consider
- Who the named person is, and their health and travel arrangements
- Whether a medical declaration or examination is needed
- How far the performer is travelling and when they arrive
- Whether the event can be rescheduled if they cannot appear
Why It Matters
- Many standard cancellation wordings exclude non-appearance, so it is usually added or arranged separately.
- If the event can be moved to a new date, insurers will often focus on the cost of rescheduling rather than a full cancellation.
- Conditions and exclusions vary between wordings, so check them before relying on the cover.
